HTC Census makes FCC appearance; features biometric technology

by Arnold Zafra on May 5, 2008 at 03:23 PM

HTC Census

Another recent FCC discovery is showing off a new mobile handset coming from HTC, dubbed the Census. The FCC document, unfortunately did not reveal many details about the Census, and we can mostly just make assumptions about its features based on what we see from the accompanying picture. Based on the image, the Census appears to have a fingerprint reader and bears a logo for the wireless technology company Harris. Likewise, the handset seems to have a touch-sensitive display as no keyboard can be seen, and the keypad is also not a standard numeric style.

Asus has quietly introduced the U6Ep notebook in the Chinese market. From its technical specifications, you could immediately see that the U6Ep might score big again for Asus similar to what they achieved when the Eee PC was released.

The Asus U6Ep features a 12.1-inch widescreen display, biometric fingerprint for enhanced personal security, Intel 2.6GHz Core 2 Duo processor, Intel GM865 Express Chipset, 667MHz RAM and Intel X3100 graphics. In addition, the Asus U6Ep also boasts of a 160GB hard drive with additional 256MB flash drive, Bluetooth and wireless connectivity.

The Asus China site did not yet mention anything about pricing or a release date, but it will certainly be released along the lines of Asus other low-cost notebooks.

by XXNatalie Mayslich on Oct 2, 2006 at 02:27 AM

Biometric door lock fingerprint

If you’re anything like 79% of the population, you probably don’t even know what Biometric is. Just kidding. What I meant to say was, if you’re anything like most people you’re frustrated. Your frustrated with your job, your family but most of all your frustrated with carrying around a key chain loaded with keys, fumbling with those keys in the dark or juggling those same keys in your right hand while you have a total of five shopping bags dispersed among your remaining hand a half.

The ADEL keyless door lock is here for you. To save you. Yes, YOU. Available for both the right and left-handed individuals - your finger is the only key you’ll ever need. It stores a maximum of 100 fingerprints, numbered zero through ninety-nine and the master print has the ability to erase any of the remaining 99 prints. Designed for unsurpassed security and convenience, the ADEL lock is PCB sealed with epoxy to prevent moisture, corrosion and loosening. It operates on 4AA alkaline batteries, DC 4.5-6.0v or 9V Stand-by power. With a digital keypad and LCD display, this stainless steel creating is coming to a door near you. For a price ($199), of course.

Forget finger scans, irises/facial scanning is the new security

by Adam Berger on May 23, 2006 at 07:51 PM

Eye scan jiris

There really are not any true details on Jiristech’s new security product besides the picture. The JCP1000 seems to be a computer mounted, add-on, accessory that acts as a facial/iris scanner for security purposes. In case fingerprint readers are not secure enough for you (you know, watching too many MI movies where they fake fingerprints), this may be a viable option. It’s a webcam with biometric abilities: as you sit in front of a locked computer and place your face within the 15-20cm working range, it’ll scan your irises in one second flat, and give access if authorised. So unless your worried that someone may cut out your eye (Minority Report), I think will will be secure enough.
