BenQ is updating its E series LCDs with the E2200HDA computer display. What makes this LCD special is the fact that it uses a 16:9 aspect ratio, meaning it can fit in widescreen HD content without the need to display the black bars that usually appears on most 16:10 non-native screens. And with that BenQ can very well claim an industry’s first.

Measuring 21.5 inches diagonally, this LCD gives out a full 1920x1080 resolution and can display 1080p content from Blu-ray movies, game consoles and other sources in all their vivid details. In addition the E2200HDA can display vivid images with its 10,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and automatic color adjustment. According to BenQ, the LCDs response times is equal to the 16:10 displays at an average 5ms. If the 5ms response rate is not enough for you, you may want to wait for future LCD’s which BenQ promise to release with pixel response times of 2ms and will feature both DVI and HDMI video.

The E2200HDA will start shipping this summer in Asia Pacific, China, Europe, and Latin America. No words yet as to when this LCD will hit US stores.

BenQ has just launched its latest digital camera offering, and boy can we just say that it sure is slim. In fact this ultra-compact camera, dubbed the T850 may just be the slimmest in the crowd so far at only 14.9mm thick. But no matter how much we convince you that this baby is as sleek as it can get, we know that you would rather know about its features and functionality. Luckily, the T850 delivers a nice little punch that might drive you to consider getting one as soon as it becomes available.

The T850 packs good features such as a high 1600 ISO sensitivity, 3x optical zoom, 3-inch TFT LCD, 8.0-megapixel CCD sensor and SD/SDHC media support. But aside from these features, what makes BenQ T850 stand out among the crop of digital cameras in its line is its touch screen feature which would allow you to access camera functions by finger tapping, encircling or swiping. And yes, for a digital camera which employs actual “swiping” gesture to view photos, the T850 hits one mark on this one.

We don’t expect BenQ to come up with a mobile phone that could match up to industry leaders such as the iPhone or BlackBerry, but if it wants to make its presence felt in the mobile market, it should at least come up with a mobile phone that has something innovative to offer. We’re not saying that BenQ’s newly launched C36 mobile handset has nothing to offer, by all means it has several nifty features. But how we wish it could offer something more.

Anyway, BenQ’s latest mobile handset, the C36 seems to be confused in what it wants to offer to the users. For one, the C36 is touting “a rocking MP3 player” with FM radio that can record on-air programs. It even has dual speakers for letting users share what they are listening to with their friends. Then it brags about a big 2-inch screen which is said to be perfect for viewing photos and video that users can take using the phone’s 1.3-megapixel camera/webcam. It even adds an e-book reader and photo editor to its line up of features as well as a microSD card slot for storage expansion.

If not for the 2.4 hours talk time and 180 hours stand by time listed on its data specifications, we would have mistaken the C36 for a portable media player. Good thing the data sheet also listed the C36 as running on GSM900 and at 1800 MHz. Now those are certainly mobile phone features.

This not-so-spectacular mobile phone from BenQ will be available sometime this month in the Malaysian market before it gets released in other countries in June.

BenQ has upgraded its C series digital camera lineup with two new models, the 7-megapixel DSC C750 and the 8-megapixel DSC C850. With their classic design accentuated by an elegant looking front to back leather handle, these cameras will most likely appeal to users who prefer the classic look of old manual cameras.

The DSC750 and DSC850 boast of a super-shake-free mode with high ISO that can be used when the cameras are on static and movie modes. This allows for the production of clean and crisp photo and video output. BenQ has also provided users with the option to zoom in and out of scenes when recording videos in MPEG4 format at either 640 x 480 or 720 x 400 resolutions.

BenQ is slowly venturing out of the mobile phone arena and into the UMPC battle ring with this intriguing new device which will supposedly be an Atom-based little PC. Details and specs have been very slow to come but we now have a somewhat relatively clear picture of it, and just about all of the necessary info you’ll need to know in case you intend on purchasing it.

Apparently, this little number is going to be somewhat like a miniature Eee PC, with specs that resemble that UMPC’s very closely. BenQ’s MID will reportedly have an 800 MHz Silverthorne processor, 512 MB of RAM, a 4GB SSD and a Poulsbo chipset. The connectivity options, meanwhile, range from HSDPA, 802.11 b/g WiFi, and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR. The screen looks large enough and presumably readable even under direct sunlight. Already this looks like a formidable Nokia Tablet competitor, and I haven’t even finished detailing the other specifications yet.

BenQ has unveiled a new model in its Joybook R laptop series with the Joybook R45. Sporting an unusual leather-like finish on the exterior, the BenQ R45 also has a latch-free closure which adds to its sleek design as well as to its durability.

The R45 is powered by a 2.10GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with a Mobile Intel PM965 Express Chipset and features a 14.1-inch widescreen display with BenQ’s patented UltraVivid technology, nVIDIA GeForce 8400M G graphics card with HDMI support, Wi-Fi, a 2-megapixel webcam, built-in microphone and speakers with smart noise suppression and echo cancellation. The notebook comes standard with 512MB of RAM with support for up to 4GB as well as storage options ranging from 120 up to 250GB.

The BenQ R45 is set to be released in China, Taiwan, South East Asia and Russia sometime this month. No pricing details have yet been announced.

Honestly, the first thing that came to my mind when I saw this phone was “Wow.” I never even thought BenQ was still around and making mobile phones, but apparently, it’s trying to tell us to not yet write them off with their latest offering, the super slim BenQ T60.

At only 8.9mm thin, it’s obvious that the BenQ T60 is targeted at the more stylish consumers. And while the 2.2-inch QVGA display and 3.2-megapixel camera further establish this point, I can’t get over the fact that they included a non-standard keypad on the thing. Other features include Bluetooth A2DP music streaming, stereo FM radio with schedule recording, USB connectivity, a MicroSD card slot, 24MB of internal memory and a manufacturer-rated 200 hour standby time. We hear you loud and clear BenQ. OK, we won’t write you off just yet.

BenQ wants to define a new lifestyle trend in the design of computer hardware. And as an opening salvo, BenQ has released the 24-inch V2400W widescreen LCD. Fresh from receiving the iF Design Award, which is given to elite computer companies for their outstanding design, the BenQ V2400W gives a sneak peek at BenQ’s newly evolved Kinergy Design, that almost mimic a B-2 stealth bomber.

BenQ claims the V2400W LCD as the thinnest 24-inch widescreen LCD, with only 2.44-inches at its thickest point. This measures more than 21% of the next thinnest LCD monitor available in the market today. It has blue-LED and touch controls that adds to its elegant appearance. And how about durability? Was this not taken for granted in place of design and aesthetic features? Definitely not, as the LCD’s stand can fully support the 24-inch widescreen and even provide flexibility for adjusting viewing angles. This was made possible by the precise torque and friction applied between the metallic parts of the hinges.

BenQ announced five new products into their Joybee MP3 player series. These products are the E520, ET50, EG10, E105, N370, and P210. According to the company, two of these products will be available before 1st May and the others will be available in Q3 this year.

E520 is an MP3 player with built-in Bluetooth. It is compatible with other Bluetooth mobile phones and acts as Bluetooth headphones. When there is an incoming call, the music playback will be paused automatically. User may answer the call or hang up through E520. Joybee E520 also features a 65K colors OLED display. It supports MP3, WMA and AMV playback.

ET50 is another MP3 player that features Bluetooth functionality. It is built-in with Bluetooth v1.2 module to supports wireless data transmission with other devices. It may playback audio up to 6 hours continously. See the next three.

The EG10 is a PMP with gaming. It comes with 10 titles of Sega Game Gear and Sega Master System classical games, such as Sonic Blast, Sonic Spinball, Columns, Putt & Putter. It has a maximum of 1GB flah memory with SD card expansion slot.

TheN370 features a 65k colors OLED display and USB. It also has a built-in FM tuner with 20 preset channels, radio recording, text and image browsing. Furthermore, it supports VOR (Voice Operated Recorder), PGA (Programmable Gain Amplifier) and AGC (Automatic Gain Control) function for recording technology.

P210 is more than just a portable speaker. It has most of the features that a typical MP3 player has, except the memory storage. It comes with built-in digital audio decoder and USB. With an USB thumbdrive plugged in, it can be a MP3 player. It does play music inside the flash drive.
