Zune battery life revealed: 12 hours music, 3.5 hours video
Microsoft released most of the info about their upcoming Zune last week, but failed to deliver the battery life expectency. Battery life on portable players can sometimes be the most important factor when making a purchase. Thanks to a tip that Engadget received, we’re not reporting that the Zune will get 12 hours of continuous music playback, and 3.5 hours of video playback.
Why did we not know that yet? It’s likely because Microsoft was ready to announce it and then Apple dropped the bomb by upping the iPod’s batteries. The new 30GB iPod lasts for 14 hours of music and 4 hours of video playback. They also announced the new 80GB model has 20 music and 6 for video. This may not sound like a big deal to you, but for some people, this will be the deciding factor in which device they purchase. Don’t get to caught up in these numbers though, because Microsoft is probably setting up a new battery deal with the manufacturers right now.
