Verizon’s new data plan - 5GB for $59.99, 50 cents/MB after

In another round of Verizon Loves/Hates consumers, we have the new AirCard/Smartphone data plans that are being announced on March 2nd in the spotlight. With Verizon having announced their unlimited calling plans and also details about their new “Open Network” to be set loose later this year, they looked like they were becoming more user-friendly. Well, that’s changed with this most recent event.
Sierra Wireless announce the Compass 885 USB, AirCard 885e ExpressCard

Sierra Wireless has unveiled the Compass 885 USB and AirCard 885e ExpressCard at Mobile World Congress. Both the 885 and 885e offer a compact design and will work with either Windows or OS X. They both also have support for tri-band HSPA/UMTS and quad-band EDGE/GPRS/GSM connections and offer data speeds up to 7.2 Mbps down and up to 2.0 Mbps up.
The Compass 885 USB modem comes with a clip to attach it to your laptop while in use and also has a microSD card slot. The AirCard 885e was designed to be durable with no moving part, even the antenna is internal. Both modems will be available during mid-2008.

Sprint’s upcoming launch dates: Samsung Ace, green LG Rumor

Sprint has a few new models coming up in the future, both the Samsung Ace and also a green version of the LG Rumor are expected to be available shortly.
The Samsung Ace is expected to be available on February 17 and carry a $449 price tag. The newly colored green LG Rumor is expected to be launched in March for $279.99 although a specific date has not been mentioned yet.
Other notable releases include the Sierra Wireless AirCard 597E on February 17 for $329 and the Alcatel-Lucent AL3500 for $499.99 is expected in March.
The pricing listed seems to be on the high side, which would indicate these are retail prices and you should expect much lower prices when signing an agreement.
