Save $620 on Microsoft Office Ultimate with your .edu address

by Robert Nelson on May 10, 2008 at 10:09 AM

Office Ultimate

Microsoft has brought back their “Ultimate Steal” promotion, and once again are offering a great deal on Office Ultimate. Microsoft is currently running the promotion for students which will allow them to save $620, which is 91% off the retail price of Microsoft Office Ultimate. The office suite normally retails for $680, however up until May 16 anyone with access to a .edu address can take advantage of this deal.

Based on the website for the promotion, you must be an active student, meaning you are currently enrolled in a class, however the New York Times is reporting that all you need is an active .edu email address. Well, I have a spare $60 lying around, just a shame I don’t still have access to my old .edu address.

iPod directions let you jam as you go

by Adam Berger on Jun 17, 2006 at 01:11 PM

iWay iPod directions

Are you that person that is always listening to their iPod and never paying attention in the car, hence leaving you direction clueless? Now you will have the edge. Yahoo Maps and the iPod are now in-sync with an online service called iPod-Directions.

What is it? iPod-Directions is a step-by-step directions tool that will export online driving directions from Yahoo Maps results and import them into your iPod Video, Nano or Photo, and without the need of additional software!

The website http://www.ipod-directions.com is very simple to use. Just like using Yahoo Maps, you would enter your starting and destination address in the corresponding online form. Once you have entered your start and destination information, simply click on “Verify Directions” to make sure that you’ll be given correct and accurate driving directions. Your very last step is to click on the button “Get Directions” and the website will prompt you to download a ZIP file that contains your driving directions. All that’s left to do is to make sure you extract the ZIP file to your iTunes Photo Folder, connect your iPod to your computer, sync your iPod and then you’re ready to roll! This program is easy to use for any event when you are in the need for driving directions to any location in the US or Canada, and best of all, it’s FREE!

Map24.com on-line mapping and directions

by Adam Berger on Jun 14, 2006 at 06:10 PM

Map24Map24.com is a free online mapmaking tool that provides individuals and businesses on-line maps and door-to-door directions. The re-launch of the new Web site brings the very popular European based Map24 brand to North America at Internet speeds that are many times faster than other North American map sites (their claim, not ours).

New features on the Map24 web site include a single line entry search that can conduct searches even with misspelled words and partial addresses. Address details, such as zip code, town and city can be entered into a single address field in any order. When the search is executed, Map24 lists the possible addresses, so that users can select the appropriate one. Once the desired address is selected, it is shown on the map and can be used a starting point or destination for route planning.

Another new and unique feature is that specific Points of Interest (POI) such as tourist attractions or hotels can be found by simply typing in the name. For example, if a user types in “Boston Aquarium,” he is immediately shown the address and a map of the Boston Aquarium. In addition, the re-launched portal now includes building outlines in city centers, known as City Maps. City Maps make it much easier to orientate users when searching or planning a route.
