Updated: BlackBerry Pearl gets some new colors

T-Mobile has some new BlackBerry Pearls coming out today. The BlackBerry Pearl 8120 will be available in frost, black emerald, and indigo. RIM is not resting on its laurels with the introduction of the Storm, the Pearl Flip 8220 and the now slightly refreshed Pearl 8120.
What was once a very very drab and utilitarian device, the BlackBerry has evolved into quite the consumer-friendly device while sticking to its roots by being the phone to have if you want to do business on your phone. This newest color upgrade looks like a play to get some folks buying BlackBerries this holiday season.

T-Mobile’s upcoming BlackBerry lineup revealed
It looks like nothing but good news for BlackBerry loving T-Mobile users as there are a few new options coming available shortly.
First up we will see an expansion of the current Pearl 8120 lineup. Not the most exciting of additions, but lets get them out of the way before we move on to the real goodies. The Pearl 8120’s features will remain the same, but it will also be available in Tahitian Green, Indigo and Light Blue in addition to the currently available Ruby, Gold and Titanium.
Now that the 8120’s are out of the way, we can also tell you that the Kickstart (or possibly the Pearl 8220) will be available sometime in late September or early October and although the pricing has yet to be officially confirmed, the rumored $49.99 is still holding.
Google Maps testing voice search on Blackberry

Google Maps is experimenting with speech recognition technology for its mobile users. The lucky guinea pigs are owners of the Blackberry Pearl 8110, 8120, and 8130 in the US. This is the same voice search technology that they use in their free directory service, GOOG-411.
This service proves to be very useful for many mobile users who lack the time or patience to type the long names of the places they want to go to. It will hopefully also add a level if safety as it could help to keep peoples hands and eyes off their phones and on the road, because even knowing the danger people still insist on using a mobile phone while driving. Here are the simple steps:
BlackBerry Pearl 8120 now available on Rogers

Rogers Communications, has recently announced the launch of the latest Blackberry to hit their network, the Pearl 8120. The phone will utilize Rogers’ UMA VOIP network. Rogers offers the handset for $149.99 CAN along with a three year agreement.
The Blackberry Pearl 8120 carries the full complement of the features of a Pearl 2 device, users can enjoy Wi-Fi, a SureType keyboard, a microSD card slot wisely placed on the phone’s left side, a bright, colorful and sharp display, a camera now capable of taking videos, and a video player which has no problem handling MPEG4, WMV and H.264 files.
AT&T first to get BlackBerry Pearl 8120
AT&T introduced the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 among their list of available smart phones today, following Verizon’s release of the RIM BlackBerry 8310 some time ago. The new Pearl 8120 features a 2.0-megapixel camera with built-in flash and video recording capabilities, MicroSD card support, handsfree Bluetooth, a QWERTY keyboard, and a Wi-Fi antenna that will allow it to easily connect to wireless networks. It’s currently available for $199.99 with a two-year contract (after rebates and discounts), which I’d say is a fair bargain, although it wouldn’t hurt if they had managed to include a built-in GPS in the thing too.
