Kingston unveil’s 32GB SDHC card in the Elite Pro line
Kingston’s Elite Pro line of SD cards just grew a little larger, now topping out at 32GB of storage. The new 32GB card joins the already existing lineup, which included a 4, 8 and 16GB card, and will retail for $308.
Personally, its a little expensive for my taste, but with today’s camera and camcorders capable of higher and higher qualities, it sounds like an option to at least consider. The 32GB Elite Pro SDHC card will be able to capture and store around 6,000 still images at a 10-megapixel quality or eight hours of video at a 6Mbps HD Extended recording quality.

Transcend announces new USB flash drive, the JetFlash V60
My 2GB USB drive works just fine for my purposes, but in case you need a lot of size, then you might want to consider this new 32GB flash drive by Transcend.
Dubbed the JetFlash V60, it sports a size similar to that of a AA battery - so it’s pretty small and easy to take places. Additionally, it comes with a whole slew of features integrated into it, such as Website AutoLogin, PC-Lock, Mobile Favorites, Secret-Zip encryption, Data Backup and Online Update. It works well with both Windows and Mac, and it even works with Linux.
So far, no word on availability, but expect it to retail for about $194, which isn’t too bad considering its storage capabilities.

The new 32GB Memory Stick Pro-HG
SanDisk and Sony have planned to begin development on the new Pro-HG Memory Stick in January 2007, and will likely ship later in the year. Using an enhanced, 8-bit parallel interface and conventional serial and 4-bit parallel interface, data transfers will max out at 480Mbps, nearly three times the rate of the current Memory Stick Pro, and have increased capacity. The card is intended for real-time recording of high-resolution video and still images which can require large, high resolution data transfers. The good news is that the MSPro-HG is an extended format of the MSPro cards, so either card can be used in the same reader. Phew - at least it isn’t another out-of-the-blue, completely new Sony storage media.
Memory Stick PRO-HG Specs:
- Dimensions: Duo size (31 × 20 × 1.6) mm
- Connector Pin: 14-pin
- Capacity: 32GB (format maximum) (NOTE: This data does not guarantee that Memory Stick PRO-HG 32 GB media will be introduced to the market. Memory Stick PRO-HG product lineup is not yet fixed. Memory Stick PRO HG recording capacity, transfer speed etc. will depend on specifications of compliant host devices.)
- Max. Data Transfer Rate: 480 Mbps (theoretical)
- Min. Write Speed: 120 Mbps (As of 8-bit parallel transfer); 40 Mbps (As of 4-bit parallel transfer)
- Operating Voltage: 2.7 to 3.6 V
- Interface: 8-bit / 4-bit parallel I/F and Serial I/F
- Max. Clock frequency: 60MHz
- Copyright Protection Technology: MagicGate
