Creative has recently put a new model on their Singapore site, the 16GB ZEN Mozaic. Before, it was available in 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB models, and it still comes with exactly the same features.

The Creative ZEN Mozaic features a 1.8-inch TFT screen, format support including MP3, WMA, WAV, and Audible, transcoded video support, integrated FM Tuner, voice recorder, built-in speakers, 32 hour audio battery life, and comes in the colors of black, silver, and pink. Unfortunately, no word on pricing at this time. It’s interesting how Creative decides to update their ZEN Mozaic right before Apple holds their special event, and they upgrade it when Microsoft Zune 120GB images have been flying around.

Rumor had it that Cowon would be coming out with a 16GB model of their D2 portable media player, however, until now it was simply just a rumor. Recently, that rumor has been confirmed as Cowon has officially announced their D2 with 16GB of storage. This announcement came from one of Cowon’s main retailers, Jetmall.

So far, the price of the 16GB D2 is relatively high, considering what some other 16GB portable media players are retailing for. The D2 is set to cost $240, however, if you want to add a 16GB SDHC card to the mix, it will cost an additional $70. Basically, a 32GB D2 would round out at $310. Even then, that price is still a little bit too high for my liking. Going back to the base device, the 16GB D2 costs $240. Keep in mind the 16GB Creative Zen costs $180 and the 16GB Sansa View is $150. Of course on the flipside their are some that are retailing higher such as the 16GB Sony NWZ-A729 which is priced at $290 and the 16GB Sony NWZ-A829 for $320.

So there are a lot of portable media players under the D2’s price, yet there are also some that are over, so it’s right in the middle and ultimately should sell pretty well. If Cowon wanted their 16GB D2 to be the one of the most popular portable media players of its class, they should consider lowering the price into the ballpark of $150 - $180.

It seems that Asus has added a unique storage option on the Eee PC 900. It turns out that users will get a total of either 12GB or 20GB of storage depending on their operating system of choice. The Windows models will have an 8GB SSD and the Linux based models will have a 16GB SSD, both models will also have a 4GB SSD that is soldered to the motherboard. The systems are set up where the 4GB drive is the master and used for the operating system by itself, with the secondary (and larger) drives being used for personal storage.

While this sounds like a unique option I can only imagine the confusion that it could potentially cause anyone that is less than technical. But on the upside, anyone who is willing to open the case up and do some tinkering should be able to upgrade their storage with ease. By having an SSD dedicated to the operating system and system files, users can upgrade their storage and not even have to re-install the operating system.

As most of us saw this morning, the Apple online store went down, and when that happens the rumors start flying. This time it went down for a very good reason, Apple has added a 16GB iPhone and also a 32GB iPod Touch.

The 16GB iPhone will join the 8GB model and it will retail for $499, the 8GB model will remain at $399. The 32GB iPod Touch will also retail for $499, while the 16GB and the 8GB models will remain at $399 and $299 respectively. Both are available immediately.

While there still is not any 3G capable iPhone, the larger storage options for these models should appeal to those that were holding off due to a lack of available storage. With these rumors being put to an end, what will come next?

Kingston has increased their SDHC memory card storage size, now available in up to 16GB. The new card will be able to hold up to 7,500 images taken with a 6-megapixel camera or more than four hours of 6Mbps HD video. While its great to see Kingston increasing memory card size, their announcement has come just after SanDisk introduced their new lineup of cards. The 16GB Kingston SDHC card will retail for $231 as opposed to SanDisks $179.

SanDisk has announced a new internal flash-based storage option for the PC, being called the Vaulter Disk and will work not as a single drive but in conjunction with your current hard disk drive. With the two drives working together you should see a nice performance increase.

The Vaulter Disk works simultaneously with the traditional hard drive and allows for files that are more frequently used to be accessed at a faster rate. The Vaulter Disk would host the computers operating system and optional data that can be chosen by the user, while the hard drive will host the remaining files, user generated content and applications that will not benefit from the faster response times.

The Vaulter Disk is set to be offered to OEM’s beginning next year and will be in storage options from 8GB to 16GB.

Sony recently announced a new option in high definition recording. Since recording in high definition takes up a lot of space, it is necessary to have large memory sticks, and this new 16GB is sure to be a good amount of space.

Basically, this large amount of storage space is ideal for Sony’s new Handycam camcorders, such camcorders utilize AVCHD compression technology. This memory card can store up to 110 minutes of high def video recording in 1920 mode. Nearly 6 hours of high def video when capturing in 1440 LP mode. Another nice thing about this is its size, it is about the size of a postage stamp. It’s main use is for recording HD video because of its ability to quickly and efficiently transfer large amounts of video between devices.

After shooting your own videos, you can then remove it and place it in the Memory Stick media slot and then you can edit it and share it on the computer.

The 16GB Memory Stick PRO Duo media card is set to be available in March for around $300 at www.sonystyle.com, as well as at Sony Style retail stores and at authorized dealers nationwide.
