Wii shortage expected to last through the holidays

If you are even thinking about getting a Wii this upcoming holiday season then you may want to start shopping for one now. Nintendo has recently been making some statements about how the Wii is expected to be in short supply through this upcoming holiday season.
George Harrison, senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications for Nintendo of America recently commented to the New York Times that “There is no guarantee that we are not going to have ‘out-of-stocks’ this holiday season. If you see one, buy it. Don’t assume that you can come back later and find one.”
If this is accurate then we are going to see a full year of Nintendo Wii shortages, even with a large demand for the console you would think Nintendo would have pulled it together by now—or is this just a marketing tactic, we wonder. With a shortage going for this long it will only help customers to decide to go for another console that can be found easily. The Wii is a unique and fun console but its not like they are the only game in town…
