Cnet has posted an insightful and detailed review of Writely, a free word processor that runs completely in a Web browser. Writely is not the only online word processor, however it’s one of the most well known & simple to use.
It was recently acquired by Google and their large team of programmers and engineers have improved the service greatly from when it was running independently.
Cnet decided it would be a great experiment to drop a common word processor and adopt Writely for a few days worth of posting.
Compared to Word, there is a fair bit that Writely cannot do. But as I near the end of this column, I’ve found no strong need for any features the application doesn’t have. It’s been easy to work on this document from my both my home computer and my work computer.
See the results yourself, you may want to drop Microsoft Word after seeing how they found it.
