MacApper’s Jordan Golson received a very peculiar text message from AT&T on his iPhone. The message read:
AT&T FREE Msg: Good News, your messaging package now includes text, picture & instant messages all for the same price of $19.99 per month. No action required
He is obviously currently on a text messaging plan, but AT&T is now apparently rolling a picture and IM plan, integrated into the existing plan. Note that Jordan is on a Go-Phone (pay-as-you-go) plan.
Oh, one problem: the iPhone doesn’t currently support MMS and doesn’t have a native IM client. Does this foreshadow an update to the iPhone firmware, bringing these features to the device?
I hope that the IM client is a “MobileiChat” of sorts, giving those who don’t want to jailbreak their iPhone a viable IM client. Picture messaging is big; who wants to take a picture, bring up Photos > Camera Roll, click Email, and punch in an email address every time?
Stay tuned to us and our sister site, Appletell, for more iPhone news as it happens.
