I believe this may be the first time in the history of the world that a Sony product is less expensive than its competitors. The long awaited NW-A1200 Walkman will be released here in the US on July 20th. The big deal is that this player offers 8 GB of flash memory for the same price as the 2 GB iPod nano, it’s direct competition. The Network Walkman A1200 plays back MP3, ATRAC3, ATRAC3plus, and WMA audio files. It also has a white 1.5” OLED display, and comes in two feminine colors (violet and pink).
Is this the player that can get Sony back in the game? I doubt it but at least it is one step in the right direction, until Apple decides to make an announcement where they are increasing their nano’s to some absurd flash memory size and sell them for less than a pack of gum.
