Who says digital cameras have to always be simple and plain looking? The Olympus Limited Edition Mju 1020 shows that digital cameras can be as artsy and funky as an obscure abstract painting with 3 uniquely-styled skins.
Designed by Romanian artists Matei Apostolescu, the limited edition Mju 1020 puts vibrancy and color in the true meaning of the word, to the otherwise usual casual design of the Mju 1020. The 3 skins would certainly appeal to the younger audience, most specifically to women photo enthusiasts. I doubt if the more serious photo hobbyists would fine it appealing though. But if you want to be different from the rest of the digital camera using crowd, the Mju 1020 would definitely give you the edge and that second look from folks seeing you with the Mju 1020.
Apostolescu was excited about his project as this is the first time that he was able to express his art on an untraditional medium. Interestingly, that medium is also a medium for creating another form of art or another medium of expression.
“The opportunity to design these camera skins was an interesting prospect for me. With photography being an exciting art form in its own right and a major component of today’s digital art, I was fascinated by the idea of designing pieces where the ‘canvas’ would ultimately be an instrument that can be used to create art itself,” said Apostolescu.
The Olympus Limited Edition Mju 1020 is not all external beauty though. Beneath the glitzy design is a powerful prosumer camera packed with high-end digital camera features. These include; a 10 megapixel camera with 7x optical zoom, 2.7” hyper crystal LCD, faces detection technology, and more.
If you like to have this camera, you better check out your favorite camera shop and see if they already carry the Mju 1020. Stocks might run out as there were only around 5000 units produced.
