DivX and Philips have sealed a two-year licensing agreement that would enable Philips to continue including DivX video functionality on its electronic products. These products include DVD players, portable devices, digital televisions and next generation consumer products such as Blu-Ray DVD devices.
Since becoming the global standard for high-quality digital video, around 100 million DivX certified devices have been made available to the market. DivX flexibility in cross platform movement of video content and interoperability between DVD players has made it the top benchmarking tool of other companies specializing on high-definition digital video.
DivX CEO Kevin Hell said that it has always been their goal to give consumers high-definition and seamless digital media experience across many devices.
“We’re extremely pleased to extend our relationship with Philips in order to continue offering global consumers the ability to access their video content on any device they choose,” says Hell.
DivX has made sure that its products passed through extensive quality testing program that ensures its interoperability, security and visual quality. With DivX certified products available in the market, consumers were given the options to create, play and share high-quality video content irregardless of what devices and platforms they are using.
