It seems that well-known companies are attempting to compete with Apple’s very popular iTunes by launching their own online DRM-free music stores. A little over a week ago, we have seen Wal-Mart begin to sell DRM-free music. Now, it seems that Amazon has jumped onto the online music selling bandwagon and are beginning to create their online music service.
Users can expect the music store to be available sometime in mid-September. They are set to sell MP3 formatted music but no word on price. However, if they wish to propose a real threat on iTunes or even Wal-Mart for that matter, they better not sell any music over 99 cents per song. iTunes doesn’t look as if it’s about to fade from being number 1, but it’s a good attempt from other companies to fight back at iTunes.
