Viacom Combats Piracy - Will Launch Archives of The Daily Show + More

Starting in the fourth quarter of this year, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart will have a totally revamped website. The site will include video archives of the entire show, though how far back it will stretch is up the in the air. Full episodes will be added to the site a mere 1-2 hours after they air.

This comes as a part of Viacom/MTV Networks’ plan to refresh multiple websites of multiple shows. Included shows are Comedy Central’s “The Sarah Silverman Program”, MTV’s “Engaged and Underage”, and Nickelodeon’s upcoming “iCarly”.

Personally, I think this definitely a step in the right direction for Viacom, for The Daily Show in particular. This move comes after Viacom began to pull The Daily Show/The Colbert Report clips from YouTube.

If all networks were to cooperate in ways such as this, it is possible that piracy would slowly, but surely, come to a complete halt.
