Verizon will be the initial carrier of the RAZR2

by Indraneel Purohit on Aug 11, 2007 at 03:30 AM

razr2_v9m.jpgThe Motorola RAZR2, first announced back in May, has its first US carrier.

Verizon Wireless will be the first to announce the RAZR’s successor at a price of $299.99, though that’s after a 50 dollar rebate. As always, there will be a two-year service agreement with the purchase of the phone.

Bear in mind, AT&T may get the better of Verizon in terms of the RAZR2’s ship date, given an announcement from the Boy Genius Report last week.

Unfortunately, it seems Verizon’s demands from phone manufacturers does not bode well for the RAZR2. Though it will sport EVDO, there is no Windows Media Player support, AAC file-format playback, and none of the Linux-Java OS that recent Motofones utilize. Those features can be expected from the GSM carriers.
