Update:Archos TV+ aims squarly at Apple TV

Archos confirmed we’ll be seeing it’s TV+ for the first time at this year’s CES and they are very intent on making war with Apple TV. It is now probably that we won’t see the release until after CES. In truth, Archos does have a lot of things going for it, but the time to market is getting a bit long in the tooth. You’ll recall our Indraneel posting on the Archos unit parading through the FCC a while back, or Robert espousing its projected features and supposed September release.
The TV+ is an intriguing device - and frankly why we are still salivating over it - as it is a WiFi DVR allowing you to record TV, but also surf the web and access content from the web such as movies, video streaming, presumably YouTube content, etc. The unit also promises quick content transfer to portable devices. The PR firm is pushing the ample 250GB hard drive.
Clearly this is where TV is headed. Giving viewers choices on where to get content, from old school networks like ABC or new school content from a guy with a webcam, it will be uber interesting to see how advertisers and those wishing to prosper from them get their hooks in.

Hi, Luck here from AppleTVSource.com.
I have to say that the TV+ is a very promising device. If it can combine Apple-like user interface with all the features mentioned, it should have no problem competing with the Apple TV.

Apple TV tried to bring computing into the family room, so why treat it as a hostile? Apple TV is proving that even with an simple, intuitive device to hook up to your TV, it’s not ready for the masses yet. Even if you were to fix all of its “deficiencies” with another product like this, I don’t think it would sell well either.
