Phillips are another company getting behind the 2008 VoIP trend with the launch of a range of attractive looking webcams and VoIP phones.
VoIP isn’t new but it has certainly gained more acceptance in recent years as a genuine business instrument, rather than a home application that helped people keep in touch, where the cost and novelty made up for the poor quality of the image and the restriction of the typical headset.
The SPC1300 and SPC620 webcams let you customize video chats to match your style e.g. you can add a specific feel or mood to any conversation changing the background to give the appearance of chatting from a different location. Winner of a 2008 CEA Innovation award, the SPC1300 flagship model features a real resolution of 1.3-megapixels and costs $99.99.
The SPC620 features an image sensor with built-in interpolation for high-quality video calling and photos with up to 1.3-megapixel resolution and works with all popular instant messaging services straight out of the box. It costs $49.99.
The VoIP251 winner of a 2008 CES Innovations award allows for the addition of a DECT 6.0 cordless Internet phone for Skype calls to a home or office environment and integrates a built-in display so users can view active, online contacts at all times. The device is also compatible with a Mac or PC and will be available in April 2008 for $49.99.
