Transcend has added a new portable hard drive in its arsenal of data storage products –  the shock resistant StoreJet 25 mobile. For a hard drive to be called portable, it must not only be small in size but light weight, high capacity and well protected. This is exemplified by Trascend’s newest portable hard drive, the StoreJet25 mobile.

Just by looking at the release photos of the StoreJet 25 mobile alone, you’d immediately notice its durability specifically if you noticed the extra-rugged silicon case that is covering the StoreJet 25. Make no mistake though, the rugged feature is not all for aesthetic purpose but it serves as a proofing for the StoreJet 25 mobile. It protects data damage due to accidental slips or falls. In fact the StoreJet 25 mobile has already passed the U.S. military drop test (MIL-STD-810F) hence making it a shock-resistant HD.

The StoreJet 25 mobile is truly a portable hard drive in the true sense of the word portable. It weighs a mere 7.2-ounces and measures 5.27 x 3.18 x 0.74-inches. Those measurements, at least by my standards are enough to make the StoreJet 25 mobile truly portable.

And to make users lives easier, the StoreJet 25 mobile uses a high-speed USB 2.0 interface with date transfer rates of up to 480mb per second. The StoreJet25 mobile also fully supports plug and play which make it compatible with most notebooks and laptops regardless of brand. Adding more value to the StoreJet 25 mobile is the inclusion of the Auto-Backup and its bundled StoreJet elite software, which offers intelligent backup scheduling, security and file compression functions.

The StoreJet 25 mobile is currently available in either a 160Gb or 250GB option and they retail for $128 and $176 respectively.
