Toshiba has released two new U series player in their Gigabeat family. The high-end models U102 and U101 come in an aluminum casing but features a measly 2GB and 1GB memory, respectively. They both feature 96x96 OLED displays, FM radio/recorders, are small and an impressive, long lasting 20 hour battery life. The best feature of this U series flash memory based DAP is the 1-bit DAC decoding which functions to enhance sound quality via noise reduction—a feature normally found only on midrange AV systems. On top of it, they both also support WMA, MP3, WAV and WM DRM 10 playback. With the price approximately at $142, you got one of the best sounding players around.
