The Xnote Mini: LG joins the netbook party

by Arnold Zafra on Sep 26, 2008 at 07:10 AM

LG Xmini Note
The continuously growing netbook market welcomes a new member, this time it is LG Electronics which just announced the Xnote Mini netbook.  Although Aving USA tagged the new LG machine as a mini-notebook, we’re still inclined to believe that the Xnote Mini should be called a netbook instead, if we are to judge it by the few specs and details available about the netbook.

Actually, the Xnote Mini’s Intel Atom processor gave away the fact that it is really a netbook.  We all know, of course, that most netbooks in the market are powered by the processor.  Adding to the Atom processor is the Xnote Mini’s 10-inch display, which is also becoming the standard display size of today’s generation of netbooks.

A quick rundown of the Xnote Mini’s specs and details further confirmed that it is indeed a netbook.

  • Intel Atom processor
  • 10-inch WSVGA (1024x600) LED back lit LCD display
  • 1GB RAM
  • 160GB HDD
  • 1.3 web camera
  • 4-in-1 memory slot
  • 54mbps wireless LAN
  • Bluetooth
  • Windows XP
  • 1.19kg

It would have been more helpful though if LG included the type of battery that will come with the Xnote Mini, as this is one major consideration for choosing a netbook right now.  Hopefully, LG will give us an idea about it once it announces the release date and international availability of the Xnote Mini.  As for the price, Aving USA qouted a price tag of around $603.
