The ooma Telo makes an appearance

Ooma Telo at CES 2009

ooma recently introduced its ooma Telo, the replacement for the ooma Hub and Scout.

The Telo was at CES, but ooma kept the actual handset behind glass.  Seeing it in person, the Telo looks like a pretty stylish phone.  When released, It will be sold in various bundles from $199 to $299.  The Telo supports up to six handsets.  The previous ooma model used regular phones attached to ooma’s system.

One of the most impressive features on the Telo is a simple trash button on the phone.  If you get a call from someone like a telemarketer, you can click the trash button and the phone will block that number.  Additionally there is a database that ooma keeps to stop telemarketers calls.

I got a chance to test out ooma’s sound quality (but not the actual Telo) in a telephone booth.  Compared to Skype (which I use regularly), the sound on the ooma line was great.  Was it better than Skype?  That is hard to tell because I was unable to test them back to back.

Expect a review of ooma Telo when we can get our hands on it.
