The big, fat, super-fast 2TB, 6Gbps Seagate Hard Drive is hereHard drive speeds can never be too fast.  When you are searching your computer for files or using it to access video, a fast hard drive is invaluable.  Here comes a monster from Seagate - the Seagate Barracuda XT.  2TB of storage, 7200RPM, and the kicker - a 6Gbps SATA interface.  So what does something like this cost?  The Seagate Barracuda XT costs $299.  However, that cost may go up since you will probably need a SATA controller to get those speeds.  Asus and Gigabyte motherboards will be able to handle the Barracuda XT.

So what does this really mean for regular consumers like us?  This technology will likely become a standard in the next couple of months.  Expect newer PCs to be able to handle such speeds.  Maybe when you’re on the look out for that new Microsoft Windows 7 machine, you’ll also want to see if that PC can handle a Barracuda XT.
