TeleNav updates Shotgun GPS with key features

Telenav pulls user generated reviews to their GPS device

TeleNav launched an update today of two key new features in their unique standalone GPS device: Shotgun.  The new features bring its Internet connected service to light as the device reaches out and pushes and pulls data that users will find quite useful.

The first new feature is mileage tracking.  Many of us are forced to sit behind the wheel for business purposes and as such, submit mileage for reimbursement.  TeleNav’s new feature allows users to tap mileage capture on and off and sends the data to their MyTeleNav account where results can be pulled for up to six months and downloaded in Excel or PDF formats.  That’s pretty handy, especially for business travelers.

The second new feature is user-generated ratings.  While TeleNav isn’t saying where the ratings are pulled from, having more knowledge than just Sushi Tango serves sushi is quite handy and its become a way of how many of us make decisions on where to spend our money.  TeleNav brings these ratings right to the search screen for several POI categories.  Users can also contribute their reviews right on the Shotgun.

Both these features will be updated over the air to all TeleNav Shotguns—pretty slick.  No downloads via cable or otherwise.  All hail connected devices!
