T-Mobile discounts the G1, now down to $129.99
There is some good news if you are looking to make the move to an Android smartphone and are not feeling the touchscreen-only keyboard that comes with the myTouch 3G because T-Mobile has just lowered the price for the G1. The phone, of course still comes with the required two-year agreement in order to get this price, but as long as you are okay with the commitment then you can grab either the white, black, or bronze G1 for $129.99.
The new lower price is nice to see, however, in my opinion, there are a few things still holding back any success that it could see. First T-Mobile is not, and has not advertised it enough, heck even this price cut was without any fanfare. Also for better or worse this is not the latest or greatest in the Android world, in other words I would say that $129.99 is still a little pricey.
Of course, I should also point out that part of my reason for believing that the price is high is due to the fact that you can get the same G1 at Wal-Mart for $98 and the myTouch 3G can be purchased for $99 right now thanks to the promo code (KICKOFF24) from Oprah.
