Sony’s PS3 viral marketing campaign, Playb3yond

by Adam Berger on Oct 14, 2006 at 05:32 AM

sony ps3 playb3yond

It seems that Sony has begun their unconventional marketing campaign dubbed Playb3yond. When logging onto the site you are required to enter in a birthday that is more than 18 years from today. Then a page opens with Flash graffiti running up and down the walls. Once loaded you cna click through to see Saw III like markings on the wall. The characters appear to be elements of the square, X, circle, triangle controller. It seems like Sony has taken a tip from the Microsoft Zune campaign as well as other recent viral project like the Origami, Nikon SLRs, and their own Blu-ray and UX laptop.

Thus far I could not find any other functionality on the page but I am sure time will tell what the portal holds.

Update: The images on the wall are a code. By spelling out certain words you can unlock tons of new content. See if you can crack it…

Try to crack it yourself. If you give up then check out the solution here.
