Sony to dump lithium ion batteries…for sugar water

Sony Sugar Battery

Many chemical reactions are very powerful, but who would have thought that sugar chemical reactions could power a walkman? For all our nature-loving friends out there, this is the product for you.

How this reaction work is quite simple, basically there are enzymes that break down the glucose molecules separating the electrons to use for power. While this is going on, the remaining hydrogen atoms are converted into water by being exposed to air. Sony claims that it can generate up to the required 50 milliwatts to power the flash walkman device. At this time the sugar power technology is still being developed, so expect more info on this in due time.
