Sony loses their mind, ditches ATRAC and Sonicstage

by JG Mason on Apr 26, 2007 at 11:58 PM

Sony B-100 flash mp3 playerBrace yourself, it is being reported that Sony will be launching a B100 series Walkman that will use drag and drop to add songs and it will not support ATRAC.  No more Sonicstage!  For those of us that have struggled to get a hold on Sonicstage and its quirky nature, this is a boon.  Sure it is 5 or 6 years late...but late beats never, every time. Makes you wonder how close they came to ditching the Sony name all together.

This freedom is covertly sealed in a flash-based mp3 player.  The B100 looks to offer voice recording in all sizes (1,2,4 GB) and sports an FM tuner for those who like to kick it old school (even recording FM stations is possible).

Expect to see it in a month with low, low, low prices.
