Sony launches PS3 Backward Compatibility Checker

Though Sony’s newest PS3 model has 20 more gigabytes than its predecessor, it lacks the Emotion Engine that allows for hardware emulation. What this means is that the 80GB PS3 can play significantly less of your older games, whereas the 60GB can play most of them.

Of course, it’s terribly inconvenient to actually insert the disc into your console. So, you can visit Sony’s new compatibility checker.

Even though most titles will work, this leaves out all surprise and disappointment you may experience.
