Sony announces the Mylo Com2

Sony has just announced the follow up for the Mylo Com1. They are looking to bring the fun PC parts to a portable device and have made some nice improvements with the Com2. The newly updated device will be available in either black or white and feature an 3.5-inch 800 x 480 touchscreen display, and a slide-out back-lit QWERTY keyboard. Memory wise it includes, 1GB of internal memory,with support for up to 8GB of additional storage via Memory Stick Duo media. There is also a 1.3-megapixel camera and the ability to upload and edit pictures. 

The Mylo Com2 will be offering a much improved web experience with Adobe Flash Lite 3 support and will also allow you to upload and download content directly from the web. For communication you will have your choice of AIM, Google Talk, Yahoo! Messenger and Skype.

At launch the Mylo will allow for more customization as compared to the Com1 and can be personalized with widgets. Included widgets are: Google Search Widget, MyContacts, YouTube, Facebook notifier and Wiki News, all installed on the device with more coming in the future. Sony will also allow you to register to get a toolkit that will allow you to create your own widgets which can then be shared and made available to others through the Sony Mylo site.

For audio you can choose from listening to one of the many online music services and the device will also be able to play AAC, MP3, AATRAC and WMA files. For video the Mylo will be able to handle MPEG4 and MPEG4 baseline or use one of the online services to include Google Video, YouTube or MySpace.

There is RSS and podcast support, email with attachment support and J-Wire hotspot manager and an improved battery life. The Com2 will be slightly wider and taller, but thinner than the Com1.
The Mylo Com2 will also offer some gaming ability with support for flash-based games. A few games will be available for free download to include, Sudoku and Solitaire. More games will also be available for purchase.

The Com2 has support for 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, and offer collaboration with Wayport (McDonalds) that will give you free access to than 9,000 locations through December 31, 2010.

The Mylo Com2 will begin shipping later this month and retail for $300.00. Sony will also be launching a complete line-up of accessories to include faceplates, screen protectors, a charging cradle, along with an extra battery and charger kit.
