One of the great parts about CES is being able to have one-on-one sit downs with companies that you are actually a fan of, and for me Slacker is just that. I just recently met with them in a nice private room and was able to get some good information about the upcoming iPhone app. This announcement seemed to have come from out of nowhere, it was logical that they had been considering it, but there was nothing really built up about it.
As of now, the app is in the approval stage, and based on the information I received it seems that it should be available any day now. Lets hope that Apple does not have any further issues and sends it into the App Store quickly, personally, today would be nice.
Of course, the app does have one limitation, unlike the Blackberry app, the iPhone version will not be able to cache the content. You are still stream the music and it should not offer any issues on either 3G or Wi-Fi as far as playback. However, the lack of caching ability, which is not any fault of Slacker, just means that you will eat your battery power quite a bit quicker. If you were are able to cache, the battery life would have been much improved. Of course, I can complain about that, but really it is silly, because none of the other services such as Pandora cache content either.
In the meantime, check out the video showing the app in action as well as the photo gallery below to get an idea of what you can expect. It seems about as simple and easy to use as you could expect.
