Slacker Portable Player delayed until 2008
After a lot of rumors and a long wait, the Slacker Portable Player was officially announced and given a ship date of December 13, 2007. Sadly Slacker has delayed that ship date until January 31, 2008, which means another 6 weeks of waiting.
Slacker has sent the bad news email to customers who already placed an order claiming the reason behind the delay is “in order to deliver the best possible player.” The Slacker website has also been updated with the new ship date. According to the email, customers may cancel their orders if they no longer want to wait.
Hopefully the January 31 ship date will hold true, but at least we can know there is a least one Slacker Portable Player, albeit a prototype that Mossberg had for testing, hopefully this delay will allow the time needed to get the bugs worked out.

It’s a bummer the portable player was delayed, but first impressions are everything so Slacker will need to make the best possible player, so I welcome the delay if that means we will get a bug free experience.
