Looking almost like a rejected PDA design from the 90’s, the latest incarnation of the Slacker Portable Player has just made its FCC appearance. Overall Slacker G2 Wi-Fi portable player seems to be a big improvement style-wise. Based on the images, the player is roughly 3-inches tall and 2-inches wide, which will be nice compared to the current player which is 4.2-inches tall and 2.76 inches wide. The overall layout has also changed, the display will obviously be smaller as well, but all things considered a 4-inch diagonal display on a device that does not play video seems to be overkill anyway. In addition to the smaller overall size and smaller display, the buttons have also been moved to a more convenient position on the front and a located just under the display.

Other items to note is that according to the FCC images, it will be available in at least a 4GB option, and will feature an FM receiver, Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR and Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g. The Slacker G2 portable player will be powered by a Broadcom BCM4325GKFBG chip and a 730mAH battery. Typical with the FCC leaks, we still have no time line for release or any pricing information.
