Three of the six televisions from left to right: ViewSonic VT2342, ViewSonic VT3245, ViewSonic VT3745
ViewSonic introduced six high definition televisions with SRS TruSurround technology. The styling of these particular LCDs is quite utilitarian - not gorgeous, but not ugly either. The smaller models are meant to for either monitors or television use, although if you want, you could probably hook up your computer to the N4285’s giant 42-inch screen.
Here’s a quick breakdown on the models:
3 1080p HDTVs with SRS TruSurround XT audio:- VT3245, October 2009, $649
- VT3745, Late September 2009, $799
- N4285, October 2009, $999
3 other models with varying resolutions with SRS TruSurround HD audio:- VT2042, 1600 x 900, September 2009, $299
- VT2342, 1920 x 1080, available now, $349,
- VT2645, 1366 x 768, September 2009, $49
SRS TruSurround XT and TruSurround HD take multichannel audio (like 5.1 audio from your DVD or Blu-ray player) and converts it to two channel audio. It’s not true surround sound, but it is definitely an improved experience. The claim is better bass and better clarity for dialog without needing a full home theater audio set up.
