Despite the initial delays with the first generation Cloudbook it seems Everex already has plans in the works on how to make it better. Thanks to a recent interview we are getting a nice look ahead as to just what we can expect as a follow-up to the current still unreleased Cloudbook. Paul C. Kim, who is the Director of Marketing at Everex recently gave an interview with Laptop and gave some of the juicy details as to what may be coming.
Later in this year we may see a Cloudbook with a solid-state-drive, although based on the interview this is only being “considered” and was left out initially because people “preferred more internal storage.” In addition to the possibility of SSD, it looks like 45 to 60 days after the initial launch will bring the introduction of a touchscreen display model should be released to developers with the hope of retail sales beginning in Q3. The release of a model with a 9-inch display will be available and also a 22-inch system bearing the Cloudbook name is being considered. Everex also plans to introduce a line of more “feminine colored” models, they made no mention of any specific colors at this time. Sounds like Everex has some good plans in motion, here’s hoping the first Cloudbook will launch, or else those potential follow-ups will turn into first generation models.
So here is the question, assuming you were waiting to buy a Cloudbook, would you still be willing to make that purchase with the knowledge of touchscreen displays and SSD coming in the future? Personally a 9-inch display with an 8 or 16GB SSD would hit that sweet spot for me.
