USB 3.0

Symwave and Seagate, two PC connectivity manufacturers have joined forces in order to create the new Symwave USB 3.0 controller device.  This device will work at speeds that no one has seen before and the manufacturers plan to demonstrate its abilities at this January’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

The USB 3.0 solution is rumored to run at speeds as much as 10 times faster than current models.  This is the reason that it is also referred to as the Superspeed USB.  This device will show improvements in the consumer’s ability to backup data, streaming audio and video as well as storage solutions.  Data has shown that the new USB will also provide less overall power consumption.  Consumers have wondered whether their devices will work with the new USB 3.0 solutions. Symwave has stated that the device is backwards compatible with over 10 billion devices.

The manufacturers have only recently finished completion of the prototype.  Symwave released in a statement that its first USB 3.0 physical layer device was introduced only seven weeks ago.
