SanDisk has upped the storage sizes on both the Sansa Clip and the Sansa View. Both models are expected to be available in February, the 4GB Sansa Clip will be available in silver and retail for $79.99 while the 32GB Sansa View is going to retail for $349.99.
The 4GB Sansa Clip will hold just about 1,000 songs and has up to 15-hours of battery life and an OLED display. According to SanDisk the display will allow “users to select the music they hear, not just wait for songs to come around at random,” which is a great shot at the iPod Shuffle. With just a little hands on time, the Clip seems like a solid little player and should make a nice alternative. The Clip weighs in at a super light 0.9-ounces and the clip is detachable for those times when its not needed. The current Sansa Clip models, the 1GB in black and 2GB in black, red, pink or blue will remain available and retail for $39.99 and $59.99 respectively.
The 32GB Sansa View will feature a 2.4-inch TFT color screen with 320x240 resolution and be able to hold about 48 two-hour movies or 8,000 songs. The battery is expected to offer up to 35 hours with audio playback and up to 7 hours for video playback. The Sansa View, both the orignal size models and the new 32GB model will have support for JPEG photos and MPEG4, WMV and H.264 video formats. It weighs around 2.9 ounces and has an external microSD/SDHC card slot that will support up to 8GB size cards, which puts total storage at 40GB. Currently the Sansa View is available in an 8GB model for $149.99 and the 16GB model for $199.99.
Both the Clip and the View offer audio support for MP3, WMA, WAV files, have a built-in microphone, FM radio, ship with earphones and USB cable and require Windows XP or Vista. They also have support for Audible audiobooks as well as Rhapsody To Go, Napster and eMusic.
