SanDisk raises microSD, Memory Stick Micro storage capacity, now up to 16GB
SanDisk has recently announced some increased storage capacities in their microSD and Memory Stick Micro (M2) storage cards. Now up to 16GB in storage size users should be able to pick these cards up beginning in October. As far as pricing, the microSD cards are expected to retail for $99.99 and the Memory Stick Micro (M2) cards just a little higher at $129.99.

Aside from the slightly high price, these new 16GB storage cards should be a welcomed addition for plenty of smartphone users. As for compatibility, current phones that support the microSDHC card format, along with the older 4GB and 8GB microSD cards will accept these new 16GB cards. In addition any M2 compatible Sony Ericsson handset will also offer support for the larger Memory Stick Micro storage cards.

While memory cards and storage sizes can only be so exciting, this 16GB level is nice to see because it puts the capacity at the same level as the 16GB iPhone. Of course some may even consider these a little nicer than phones with built in storage such as the iPhone because with multiple cards its almost like having endless storage.
