SanDisk announces new 1.8-inch 72GB SSD’s

SanDisk also announced during CES 2008 a new line of 1.8-inch solid-state drives with storage options of up to 72GB. The newly announced drives are expected to be available during the second quarter of 2008 and are set to be included in “new thin and light laptops for the corporate market later this year.” No word however on just which manufacturers will be using the drives but hopefully we will see some nice ultra-portables. The new drives are 1.8-inch Serial ATA (SATA II), they weigh just 40 grams, are 5mm thick and were designed to be easy replacements for current hard disk drives.
