Samsung looking to offer 256GB SSD’s by 2009

With more and more laptops beginning to offer solid-state-drives it seems inevitable that we will see two things, higher storage capacities and also lower prices. Samsung is currently producing 64GB drives and have 128GB drives that will begin vendor testing later in the year. Samsung has also announced a goal that is to double their SSD capacity on a yearly basis, which means it is logical that we could see 256GB drives becoming available sometime in 2009. While its nice to see the drive capacity beginning to grow at a quick pace, lets hope the pricing will shrink at an equally quick pace.

on March 7, 2008 at 02:16 PM - LINKThat is what it would come out to based on their statement, but like most things that sound a little too good, I will not hold by breath for this to come by 2009. Even if it happens I would imagine price would keep most of us from actually taking advantage of it, at least for a while.
