Rumored HTC Touch Opal officially unveiled as the HTC Viva

HTC has announced the successor to the HTC Touch, and although the recently rumored HTC Opal was pretty close on specs and design, the handset has officially been dubbed the HTC Viva.

Overall, the Viva is a decent handset that according to HTC will be affordable. Of course, a price has not yet been announced, so time will tell just how accurate that statement will prove to be. Otherwise, the HTC Viva will feature HTC’s TouchFLO and be running Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional.

Other features include a 2.8-inch QVGA (240x320) touchscreen display, 256MB of flash, 128MB of RAM, microSD card slot, 2-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR and GSM/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 MHz connectivity. One noticeable item that is missing is support for 3G connectivity, which will limit you to EDGE speeds unless you can find and take advantage of an available Wi-Fi connection.

As for availability, it is expected to hit the market sometime in early October and will be available in just one color; Storm Gray.
