Rumor: Wi-Fi equipped BlackBerry Storm 2 set for September release

by Robert Nelson on Apr 7, 2009 at 06:07 AM

Assuming the rumors are accurate, then it looks like we will be able to check off one of the biggest complaints that mobile phone users geeks have had about the BlackBerry Storm—the lack of Wi-Fi.  This information is reported to have come from a source that is “very close to this issue” and is calling for a Wi-Fi equipped BlackBerry Storm to become available this September.

Additionally, it was also noted that the Storm 2 would be “an even better Pro-consumer device than the first Storm,” however details were not given on what else we may see get updated.  Could we see an improved camera, or possibly an update to the touchscreen display?

Another report is also suggesting that RIM may be ditching the SurePress on the Storm in favor of a new TruePress.  Of course, this mention is also just in the rumor stage as of now.

If nothing else, and assuming that these rumors are accurate, this could lead one to believe that RIM, and maybe Verizon has learned a little something from their earlier mistakes with the original Storm.  If you ask me, the Storm had so much potential, but it looks like it could still be a good device.
