Rumor: Expert says iPhone 2 coming in March
UBS Investment Research’s Ben Reitzes says sources in the production pipeline point to a March 2008 timeframe for the launch of the next iPhone. Though the expert stopped short on defining what makes an iPhone 2, one can make some guesses.
iPhone 2 would have to be a big brother to iPhone 1; it cannot be a replacement. Many countries still have yet to be graced by its arrival so making it a non-starter seems just dumb. So, will it pack in 3G? Movie camera capabilities? Colors? I’ve seen this movie from Apple before and it has a happy ending.
The UBS analyst predicts a very promising holiday season and Q1 of 2008 for Apple. He also hints at iTunes Video Rental, a gaming initiative and some vague clues on a new ultraportable device.
