Rumor: AT&T teams up with eMusic to offer over-the-air downloads

by Robert Nelson on Jul 26, 2007 at 05:03 PM

eMusic LogoThe Boy Genius has received an anonymous tip that AT&T has teamed up with eMusic to offer over-the-air music downloads. The new service is expected to be available July 31st and will cost $7.49 per month for any 5 song downloads. The service will work with the Samsung A707, A717, A727 and the Nokia N75. This anonymous tipster seems to have a lot of details and it seems like it could be true, but there are a few things that would lead me to call fake. This seems an odd time for AT&T to partner up with another music download service being so close to the release of the iPhone and the price also seems to be rather expensive considering eMusic’s regular plans start at just $9.99 an month for 30 songs.

eMusic does have a great service for a great price and best of all it is all DRM free MP3 downloads, meaning you can use the music you download with the portable device of your choice. Either way the 31st is not to far away.
