The third quarter has been good to RIM, with both profits and revenue having nearly doubled. More and more people are now using BlackBerry phones and it certainly shows, in Q3 RIM has shipped more than 3.9 million handsets and added around 1.65 million subscribers. Which means good things for both profit and revenue. RIM has posted a $370.5 million profit compared to $175.2 million for the same quarter last year and increased revenue from $835.1 million last year to $1.67 billion this year.

“It is clear from the results in this quarter that BlackBerry smartphones have crossed over from being viewed as a primarily enterprise product to being marketed as a strong mainstream offering,” said co-CEO Jim Balsillie

With more and more consumer friendly BlackBerry’s hitting the market, such as the Pearl and Curve its only a matter of time before we see these number increase yet again.
