Rightous Sony Ericsson P1; the iPhone for the business world?
Touchscreen. 25% smaller than the p990. VOIP enabled. Business card scanning. WiFi, RSS feeds, Video Calling (probably just in Europe), Blackberry Connect/Microsoft Exchange Activesync. 3.2MP camera with 3x zoom.
If it is hot today, I think you’ll find it in the new P1 from Sony Ericsson, a super smart candy bar style phone that was unveiled in London today. This things feature list reads like a who’s-who of the top things any phone has and all of it serious.
From it’s horizontal Opera web browser to its neat OCR business card recognition that allows you to take a snapshot of a business card and zaps the contact info into your phone book (genius!); this phone, in the humble opinion of this phone admirer, rocks.
The 3G P1 even has a remote wiping of email and PIM data in the event your phone is stolen or misplaced (like in the back of a cab in NYC…don’t ask). The P1 relies on the Symbian OS for easy navigation and lots of 3rd party apps. Did I mention the 3-D games it comes with?
Coming in Q3 of this year this phone will do all the music you like, mobile TV (again I suspect only in Europe) and is Bluetooth stereo equipped. No pricing has been named yet.

on May 17, 2007 at 11:44 AM - LINKLets hope SE gets a couple more things right besides just the list of impressive specs:
1) That it ships P1’s that really work from day 1, instead of having to rely on many subsequent firmware updates to fix the show-stopping bugs.
2) That it does not abandon the P1’s firmware development the same way it:
on July 18, 2007 at 11:35 AM - LINK- nearly abandoned the P990, and,
- actually did for the M600i updates, well before all major bugs were ironed out
