Qik live video streaming which has been previously available only with most Nokia N-Series handsets is now also available on various Windows Mobile phones, including the Motorola Q, the Samsung BlackJack and more. This easy-to-use, pretty straight forward mobile service lets anyone with Windows Mobile phones to capture videos using their mobile phones camera and have it streamed live through Qik’s servers.
In addition, Qik also records that streamed videos which users can view on Qik’s site later on. So, you don’t have to worry about consuming the storage space of your mobile phones. The best part about this application is the fact that you can let your friends and relatives watch whatever it is that you are streaming live all at the same time just by pointing them to the Qik server where your videos are streaming.
Qik’s live streaming application seems to be a promising service. Unfortunately, it is still currently in alpha mode. That means you need to get an invite to try out the service. If you are using a Motorola Q or Samsung Blackjack, you’re in luck as you can request for an invite by visiting http://qik.com. For us, other Windows Mobile phone users, we may have to wait for a little while before we get to use the application. Hopefully it won’t be too long.
And lastly, if and when you get to try Qik, we would advise you to ensure that you have unlimited data plan, because live video streaming will certainly eat up a lot of bandwidth.
