Something tells me that we will be seeing a lot of hard drive storage promoted at CES and a lot of it will be small and compact. That means the market will won by a combination of form factor and capacity.
Based on that criteria is would be worth putting a few dollar’s on the new Verbatim SmartDisk 2.5-inch Portable Hard Drives, which are palm sized, available for both Mac and PC in 120, 160, 250, or 320GB storage options, not to mention they look very cool.
They will be available for around $99 for the 120GB version, and will come with either a USB or a USB/Firewire option. A neat feature is that they are also “interoperable and files can be transferred between a Mac and a PC.” The drives run at 5400RPM at speeds of up to 480MB per second (MB/sec.) when connected with USB 2.0 and up to 400MB/sec over Firewire.
