Play PS3 games in a PSP rip-off

I just don’t know; it seems that these days there’s a rip-off of nearly every conceivable item you can name out there. This is probably no different, the A816 is a multimedia, PDA, gaming, and cell phone device rolled into one. In this case, it rips off the design of the PSP and claims to be a PS3 game player on its icon/logo at the back, which would be a heck of an accomplishment if were true.
Unfortunately of course, it’s not true (have you ever heard of PS3 games in UMD format? Oops, wait, this device doesn’t even come with a UMD slot ala the PSP). The A816 will indeed be capable of GSM calls, video and music playing, acting as PDA in some way not explored yet, and having some quite interesting features, but it will only equipped with GBC/NES/SMC emulators to play all your retro Nintendo games (via downloadable ROMs on the internet).
The price for this on a site I found was US$145, which is not bad for a PDA/multimedia/cell/gaming phone, especially if you’re into old retro gaming to waste time while you’re travelling and have nothing better to do. But if not, I’d say it’ll probably be better to save your cash and use it on some other non-rip-off gadgets with somewhere to service it should something go wrong. I’m not sure Sony will honor any kind of warranty from this device due to obvious reasons.

on December 15, 2007 at 04:25 AM - LINKi love mac and linux windows sucks
by the way im a young h4ck3r
windows /linux both work but there not the real thing it just looks like them with cheap items to give it the feel of windows. But if you have a psp the only awsome thing is the 8 gig mem stick with all NES ,SEGA , SNES and the occasional PSOne so the PS3 game player is basically a really shitty version af what you can buy and hack for like 150 bucks for a real psp now right.

on November 16, 2008 at 12:10 AM - LINKyou should be really careful with this kind of gadget. today we see a lot of Xplayers, PSX and super function phones that can do almost every thing… last time I was totally surprised to see N99 while the nokia is still launching its N96…
Now really if you just want to buy for fun .. it s cool, but if you are serious about it,then you ll be frustrated.
on January 3, 2009 at 05:01 PM - LINKI bet it is made in China.
There is tons of manipulative branding and it obvious it is fake. Its like buying a fake Louie Vuitton bag that says “Loue Vutton” instead.
Plus the image you provided clearly shows Chinese text on there.
I really don’t think this is news worthy, since everyone knows about this already. If you don’t however, I wouldn’t be surprised if you are easily gullible.
